Installing Quilt on Your Minecraft Server
Explains how to install the Quilt mod loader on your Minecraft server through the Game Panel so you can run mods.
In this article, we explain how to install Quilt on your Minecraft server, so you can add your own mods.
What is Quilt?
Quilt is a mod loader that was forked from Fabric, with extra features for mod developers. Most Fabric mods also work on Quilt, but not always the other way around.
Note: Always check on the mod's page (for example Modrinth) whether a mod supports Quilt, or specifically requires Fabric.
Installing Quilt
- Log in to the Game Panel and select your server.
- Make a backup first via Backups → Create Backup.
- Click More > Version Changer in the menu.
- Choose Quilt as the server software.
- Select the desired Minecraft version and Quilt loader version.
- Click View, then Install.
Note: Do not check WIPE SERVER FILES unless you deliberately want a completely clean server.
- Wait until the installation is complete and start the server.
Adding mods
- Download the desired Quilt or Fabric mod (
.jar) from, for example, Modrinth. - Also download the Quilted Fabric API (or Fabric API, depending on what the mod requires).
- Stop the server.
- Place the files via the File Manager or SFTP in the mods folder.
- Restart the server.
Troubleshooting
- Server does not start: check whether the correct API (Fabric API or Quilted Fabric API) is present in the mods folder.
- Mod does not work as expected: some Fabric-only mods do not fully work on Quilt, check the mod's documentation.
