Creating Your Own Modpack Export for Your Players
Explains how to export a custom modpack, so players can install exactly the same mods on their client.
Have you put together your own modpack for your server, and want players to easily install exactly the same mods on their own client? In this article, we explain how to export this.
With a launcher such as CurseForge or the Modrinth App (assembled locally)
Did you assemble the modpack locally in the CurseForge launcher or the Modrinth App?
- Open your modpack profile in the launcher.
- Find the Export Profile option (CurseForge) or Export (Modrinth App).
- Export as
.zip(CurseForge) or.mrpack(Modrinth). - Share this file with your players, for example via Discord or a cloud storage service.
- Players import this file into their own CurseForge launcher or Modrinth App via Import.
Manually based on your server mods
Don't have a local profile, but do have a working mods folder on your server?
- Log in to the Game Panel and select your server.
- Go to Files and open the mods folder.
- Select all mod files and download them as a
.zip. - Share this file with players, along with the exact Minecraft version and mod loader version (Forge/Fabric/Quilt/NeoForge).
- Players place the files themselves in the mods folder of their own client installation with the same mod loader and version.
Note: Some mods contain server-side only or client-side only files. Not every mod from the server folder needs (or is allowed) to also be installed on the player side, check this per mod on the mod's page.
Troubleshooting
- Players get a "missing mod" error: check whether all required mods are actually included in the shared file.
- Players cannot connect despite having the same mods: check whether the mod loader version (for example the Forge build) also matches exactly.
