Installing Fabric on Your Minecraft Server
Explains how to install the Fabric mod loader on your Minecraft server through the Game Panel so you can run mods.
In this article, we explain how to install Fabric on your Minecraft server, so you can add your own mods.
What is Fabric?
Fabric is a lightweight mod loader that is often updated quickly after a new Minecraft version. Many smaller or performance-focused mods (such as Lithium, Sodium, and Carpet) run on Fabric.
Note: Fabric mods do not work on Forge, Quilt, or NeoForge. Always check on the mod's page (for example CurseForge or Modrinth) whether it supports Fabric.
Installing Fabric
- Log in to the Game Panel and select your server.
- Make a backup first via Backups → Create Backup.
- Click More > Version Changer in the menu.
- Choose Fabric as the server software.
- Select the desired Minecraft version and Fabric loader version.
- Click View, then Install.
Note: Do not check WIPE SERVER FILES unless you deliberately want a completely clean server.
- Wait until the installation is complete and start the server.
Adding mods
- Download the desired Fabric mod (
.jar) from, for example, Modrinth or CurseForge. - Also download the Fabric API, many Fabric mods require this to work.
- Stop the server.
- Place both
.jarfiles via the File Manager or SFTP in the mods folder. - Restart the server.
Troubleshooting
- Server does not start: check the log, often the Fabric API is missing or the mod is not suitable for your Minecraft version.
- Players cannot connect: make sure players use exactly the same mods (including Fabric API) and the same Fabric version as the server.
