Restoring a Backup of Your Web Hosting Account
Explains how to restore a backup on your web hosting account, either one you made yourself or an automatic JetBackup backup.
In this article, we explain how to restore a backup on your web hosting account. This can be done in two ways: a backup you downloaded yourself, or an automatic backup via JetBackup.
Note: Restoring a backup can overwrite existing files, databases, or settings. Not sure exactly what's in the backup? Contact us first.

yourwebsite.com:2222. - Navigate under Account Manager to Backup/Transfer.

.tar.gz) you previously downloaded. - Select which parts you want to restore.
- Click Restore.
Restoring an automatic backup via JetBackup
Our nightly automatic backups (available for 14 days) run via JetBackup, and can be restored independently, without a ticket.
- Log in to DirectAdmin via
yourwebsite.com:2222. - Navigate to the JetBackup menu.
- Choose the desired backup date.
- Select which parts you want to restore, for example files, a database, or email.
- Click Restore and confirm the action.
Note: Can't figure out JetBackup, or unsure which date you need? Create a support ticket and we will help you further.
Troubleshooting
- Restoring fails or shows an error: check whether the backup file is not damaged or incomplete (for a self-uploaded backup).
- Website doesn't work well after restoring: check whether the associated database has also been restored, a backup of only files without a database is often incomplete.
- Desired date not available in JetBackup: backups are kept for 14 days, an older date is no longer available.
