Creating a MySQL Database in DirectAdmin
Explains how to create a MySQL database and database user in DirectAdmin for your web hosting.
In this article, we explain how to create a MySQL database in DirectAdmin, for example for WordPress or your own application.
Step 1. Log in to DirectAdmin
Go to your website followed by :2222, for example yourwebsite.com:2222.
Step 2. Create the database
- Navigate under Account Manager to MySQL Management.
- Click Create new Database.
- Enter a name for the database.
- Enter a username and password for the database user, or use an existing user.
- Click Create.
Note: Write down the database name, username, and password carefully. You will need these when installing software such as WordPress.
Step 3. Using the database
The full database name and username usually consist of your account name followed by an underscore and the name you chose, for example account_mydatabase. Use this full name when configuring your application.
Troubleshooting
- "Access denied" error: check whether the username, password, and database name match exactly (note the automatically added prefix).
- Database not found: check whether you are using the full, automatically generated database name, including the prefix.
