Adjusting Limits for One Specific Customer (CloudLinux Override)

Explains how to set temporary or permanent individual CloudLinux limits for one specific customer as a reseller.

Does one specific customer structurally need more (or less) server resources than the rest of their package? Then you can set an individual exception for that one customer, separate from the package.

Note: First see our article How Do CloudLinux Limits Work for Reseller Hosting? for an explanation of each individual limit (CPU, RAM, I/O, IOPS, EP, NPROC), before setting an exception.

Setting an individual limit

  1. Log in to your reseller account via yourreseller.com:2222.
  2. Go to Reseller Level → Extra Features → CloudLinux Manager.
  3. Open the Users tab.
  4. Find the user for whom you want to set an exception.
  5. Adjust the desired limit(s) for this specific user.
  6. Save the change.

Note: An individual exception only overrides the package setting for this user. Changes to the package itself will no longer affect this customer afterward, until you remove the exception again.

When should you use this, and when not?

  • Use an individual exception for a one-time spike, a temporary project, or a customer who structurally deviates slightly from the rest.
  • Use a separate (higher) package instead if multiple customers need the same higher limits. This keeps your reseller environment more organized.

Troubleshooting

  • Exception doesn't seem to have any effect: check whether you actually saved the change on the correct user (not the package).
  • Customer still hits the limit: check via Current Usage whether the new limit is actually set higher than the current usage.
